Help out

Southern Girls Convention is a participatory space, not a traditional top-down conference. It's your convention! You run the show, you put on workshops, you meet and network with each other, and you help to organize next year's convention! You can help your convention run as smoothly as possible by volunteering to help out with needed tasks, including childcare, security, clean-up, and publicity. Be sure to register for SGC and indicate if there is anything in particular you would like to help out with.

Covering Costs

There's no required fee for registration at SGC2002. However, we need your help to make this event happen, and keep it grassroots-funded and supported. A small contribution can help us cover the cost of booking speakers, workshop space, facilities, and other expenses. Any amount is welcome, and any left-over funds will go toward next year's SGC and local women's groups. You can contribute online by Visa, MasterCard, or your PayPal account, or offline by sending checks, money orders, or well-concealed cash to our P.O. Box:

Spread the Word

In addition to telling friends by e-mail, there are other things that you can do offline and online to help spread the word about Southern Girls Convention.

  • To help spread the word about Southern Girls Convention in your community, you can post SGC'02 flyers around your hometown. We have flyers available from this website in PDF format. All you need to do is print it out, write your own contact info at the bottom to help folks in your town get in touch about transportation to the event, and post it anywhere and everywhere that people might see them.

    1. Flyer with fancy layout
    2. Flyer with lots of information (for places where people will stand to read it)
    3. More flyers should be available soon!
  • Add an announcement to your e-mail signature. Every time you write an e-mail, more people can find out about SGC!

  • If you have a website, download a copy of the SGC2002 banner and place it where people can see it.

  • We also have a SGC supporters webring that you can join, which increases awareness of the event, drives traffic to your own website, and builds community between participants, by linking together the webpages of the many different people who support SGC.
