Do It Yourself!

If you would like to put on a workshop on a topic you care about, great! To request a block of time for your workshop during the convention, you can use the workshop proposal form below. We are accepting workshop proposals up until Wednesday, May 31st. If you can't get your workshop proposal in on time, or we can't find the space to schedule all the workshops that we receive, or if you just prefer to do things on the fly, there will be space at the convention for advertising and holding guerilla workshops.

Facilitator (that's you!)

(Check any that apply)

How would you like for us to contact you? (We need at least one way to contact you. But feel free to include other methods as a back-up, too.)

(optional)

Do you have a cell phone number, voicemail number, instant messenger account, or some other way for us to get in touch with you over any last-minute issues concerning your workshop? (This is optional, too. Last-minute issues only come up very rarely, but it's best to be prepared in case they do!)

About Your Workshop

What type of workshop will this be?

This year's convention will have space for workshops that last either an hour or half an hour, and will have some limited space available for intensive workshops that take up three to four hours. How long will your workshop be?

Do you have any specifications about who may attend your workshop (such as womyn-identified only or trans-identified only)? If so, explain.

Please describe your workshop as thoroughly as possible and how it relates to Southern Girls Convention.

This year we will be holding the conference Friday June 23 through Sunday June 25, so workshops will be scheduled for Friday night through possibly Sunday morning. Are there any times when it will be impossible for you to hold your workshop?

Is there anything you'll need us to provide you with (butcher paper and markers, film-watching capabilities, etc)?

Is there anything else we need to know? Do you have any other comments or questions?

In order to keep lines of communication open, and avoid confusion about workshop schedules, we will be contacting you several times with updates and reminders between now and the convention. Before you submit your proposal, be sure you understand that if we don't hear anything back from you when we try to get in touch, we'll have to either cancel the workshop or find a new facilitator. If you're not yet sure whether you will be able to attend, we ask that you either wait until you are sure, or else plan to put on the workshop in the guerilla workshop space.)
